I recently got an update from the penwortham town council with minutes from the local meetings.

One article discussed the spending on the Penwortham Christmas tree.

Apparently last year the Tree it 's self cost over £300, which I am not worried about, however, we paid a company over £700 to provide the lights for us and to maintain the tree. The council take payers pay for the electricity, so how much maintenance work was carried out that would make it cheaper than buying our own lights from Dobbies at top price.

Does anyone else think that £700 is a lot to pay to rent Christmas lights for one tree.

Your thoughts would be welcome. Perhaps the Lib Debs can look at this and see if a cheaper option is available.
